Teaching clarity in an era of noise
We train regional journalists to separate fact from assumption, teaching the analytical frameworks that help audiences make informed decisions.
Started in a classroom, now reaching screens across the region
Zeknodar began when a group of local educators noticed a gap. Reporters were publishing quickly but not always accurately. Readers were consuming content but struggling to evaluate reliability.
We built a program that focuses on the fundamentals: source verification, logical analysis, recognizing bias patterns, and understanding statistical claims. No jargon, no theory for theory's sake.
Our courses use real examples from Ukrainian media alongside international case studies. Students learn to apply the same questioning framework whether they're reading local news or following global events.
Since founding in 2023, we've trained over 180 participants ranging from student reporters to established journalists looking to sharpen their analytical skills. The approach stays consistent: practical techniques, direct feedback, and plenty of practice with actual content.
How we structure learning
Three principles that guide every course we create
Sequential skill building
Each module builds on the previous one. We start with identifying claims, move to evaluating sources, then progress to analyzing argument structure. No jumping ahead until foundations are solid.
Real content analysis
Students work with actual published articles, press releases, and social media posts. Learning how to spot misleading headlines or incomplete data works better with real examples than hypothetical scenarios.
Local context integration
We adapt materials to reflect Ukrainian media landscape and regional reporting challenges. Universal principles applied to familiar contexts make learning more direct and immediately useful.
Built by people who teach and report
Our instructors combine academic backgrounds in media studies with active journalism experience. They understand both the theoretical frameworks and the deadline pressures that shape how news gets made.
